About Pivot Green

Pivot Green is our 2000 square foot working greenhouse and office located at 674 Shelton Street in Bridgeport, which is adjacent to Pivot’s existing campus. It was constructed on an abandoned lot directly behind our 2 houses on Jane Street and next to our newly acquired Pembroke Street house.

The initial idea behind the greenhouse was to start a micro business that would offer training and experience in horticulture to students and graduates of Pivot Ministries. We believed that providing practical job skills to some of our graduates was an important component of our program offering, and building a warm and friendly greenhouse on an unused lot next to our campus seemed like a great idea.

All of the money was raised through private donations and the greenhouse employs up to 5 graduates of our program at any given time. Our greenhouse manager has a background in horticulture and he is a licensed arborist in the State of CT.

Pivot Green is happy to offer top quality services in landscape maintenance, tree work, seasonal plants and flowers, and community agriculture. A more detailed description of our services is offered on the following page.

We are also happy to report that the greenhouse regularly hosts classes of High School students from Bassick and Harding High Schools in Bridgeport. And we are continuing to expand our equipment and basic footprint of the greenhouse property to offer fun and rewarding activities for students and for local residents.
